On Matchday you will make the short transfer from your hotel by Metro to the Estadio Jose Alvalade to watch the Sporting Lisbon v Benfica Derby. The Lisbon Derby is one of the oldest and keenly contested rivalries in European Football and you will see many of the players that helped Portugal to its triumph at Euro 2016
The two teams first met in 1907 and the rivalry is the most contested in Portugal even though in recent years the matches with Porto have taken on extra importance. The match is being held at Sporting’s Estadio Jose Alvalade which was rebuilt and completed in 2003 and now has a capacity over just over 50,000. This magnificent stadium is just a short drive from Benfica’s Estadio do Luz and both are worthy venues for Lisbon’s football legends.
